Ajay delays Atithi for Aseem Bajaj

Ajay Devgn pushes back his own film's release date because his friend Aseem Bajaj requested him to . The release date of Amita Pathak's debut production, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? starring Ajay Devgn, Konkona Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal, has been pushed back from February 26 to March 5.

Buzz up!
Says a source, "Ajay Devgn is very close to cinematographer Aseem Bajaj. Ajay can never refuse friends and bails them out when in trouble. When Aseem was in hospital last year, Ajay had arranged for his entire medical stay there, including his doctor. Aseem's wife Leena, is the director of Teen Patti and Ajay and the couple go back a long way. Aseem was to direct Ajay's home production All The Best but as he had given the dates for Atithi and had to refuse. Aseem is also the DoP (director of photography) for Atithi."

The source adds, "Leena's Teen Patti was to release on February 12 but because of some problems cannot. The producers of Teen Patti got a release date of February 26 but apart from Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, Karthik Calling Karthik is also scheduled to release on the same day. So Aseem and Leena approached Ajay and executive producer Kumar Mangat Pathak and requested them personally to postpone the film. She told them that Teen Patti had already been pushed back and it would help them if Atithi could be pushed back. Ajay graciously agreed to release their film on March 5."

Says Amita Pathak, "Yes we have been in talks with Aseem and Leena. Since the three films are of different genres, releasing all of them on the same day would cut into their individual markets. We decided to postpone the film.

We didn't want the films to clash. Also Teen Patti had already pushed back their date once, so we decided that we should do it this time. We took the decision to postpone Atithi on Sunday evening. We have made some changes to the film and shot the promo song with Ajay, Paresh and Konkona. The film is complete. The promo should come out next week."

Abbas clears Abhishek-Priyanka controversy

Priyanka Chopra lost out her role in Abbas Mustan’s remake of The Italian Job because of Abhishek Bachchan- that was what media reports claimed last week. Reportedly, Abhishek told the director duo to throw out Priyanka because of the way his good friend and filmmaker Rohan Sippy was left in a lurch by Priyanka Chopra.

Reportedly, she did not want to star in his film, opposite a lesser known star, the South star Rana Daggubati. However, the truth is that Abbas-Mustan are extremely upset about the whole thing and the manner in which Abhishek’s name was unnecessarily dragged into it.

Abbas has stated, “The star cast of The Italian Job was finalized long time back. We had signed Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif in the first go and Katrina was always our first choice so there was no question of talking to Priyanka Chopra. She was never approached or spoken to for this role so how can Priyanka lose out on a role she was never even considered for?”

Abbas has further added that it is extremely unfair to needlessly drag Abhishek’s name into it to make it sound like a controversy.

Aamir wants Salman to write scripts

amir khan Amir khan
Says a source close to Salman, "Aamir was flying off to LA on Wednesday night so Salman kept a screening only for him at Ketnav in the afternoon. There was no way that Salman was going to let Veer release without asking Aamir what he thought about it since Aamir is known to have a keen sense of scripts and commercial cinema.

Today Aamir's opinion on films is valued by everyone in the film industry. After watching Veer, Aamir told Salman that though he loved the film he wouldn't have been able to do a film of this scale and magnitude. Veer wasn't his kind of film as it was commercial and larger-than-life with its massy, dramatic scenes and fights."

That wasn't all. The source informs, "As Aamir had to leave in a hurry because he had another event to attend, he called up Salman later and spoke to him for half an hour on Veer. Aamir told him the aspect he loved particularly in Veer like the father-son relationship. Aamir felt that the relationship was autobiographical as Salman had inculcated several aspects of his own life. When Salman told him Veer was inspired by the Russian novel Taras Bulba, Aamir appeared to be impressed."

Aamir also told Salman to write more scripts and stories. "He felt that Salman was a writer who had a fine sense of storytelling. Aamir thought that what came across that Salman loved writing and he should write more especially on topics that inspired him."

So, who do you think fits in the category of ideal actor Shahid? He replies, “I think Aamir Khan
. He is in a different league altogether and he’s doing some fantastic work. And to reach that level would take me years.”

Koena Mitra to go on a Turkish sojourn

Koena Mitra’s catty colleagues may think her Turkish boyfriend is a figment of her imagination. But that’s only jealous talk. At her birthday party on Wednesday night Koena proudly introduced Mete Meral to all her friends
. The Turkish boyfriend Mete Meral (“Please get the spelling right,” she urges) is not just a pilot by profession but also part of a huge business empire. From the looks of it the two are dead serious about one another and intend to tie the knot some time soon.

Buzz up!
Koena isn’t averse to the idea of marriage, but she does sound a few notes of caution to herself. “I am sure I love Mete. But he is Turkish and I’m Bengali. We belong to completely different cultures and countries. Our families have to come to terms with such a cross-cultural alliance.” In fact Koena flies to Turkey later this month on 18 January to meet Mete’s family.

“He’s the only son. And his parents are aware of me, though so far I’ve only spoken to them on MSN chat. I’m looking forward to meeting them. Mete is so far removed from my world. Though he was introduced to me by a mutual friend from Bollywood he’s very amused to see our Bollywood latka-jatkas and laughs every time I show him one of our movies.”

Has Koena showed her Turkish paramour her films? “The first one I showed him was Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena because that had a lot of hot love-making scenes between me and Fardeen Khan. I wanted to see his reaction. But he was cool about it. He doesn’t care about what I do or about my past. He loves me for what I am. This is the fourth relationship in my life and the only time I feel it’s for keeps. Yes, I’d like to settle down with Mete provided it all works out.”

Koena isn’t averse to a long-distance marriage. “In fact it works better for me. The last relationship I was in the guy was constantly with me either in my house or on the phone. It gets stifling. With Mete I enjoy the space and distance because they make me appreciate our time together even more. Whenever he comes down to Mumbai, like he did for my birthday, we enjoy each other’s company all the more.”

Salman Khan joins the green campaign

"The exhibition was started 10 years ago when I became a trustee, says Shaina adding, "I asked Salman to inaugurate it because he and his family love nature. Their Panvel farmhouse is nature at its best -- it's a profusion of beautiful colours and vegetables. Salman is a really good human being.

I hadn't expected him to readily agree but the moment I asked him if he could do it, he immediately said yes. Salman and his dad Salim uncle take care by looking after their garden. Last year, when I Love Mumbai had given 1000 saplings they had planted them at their farmhouse and Panvel. It's amazing how they take care of their plants!"

Shaina adds that the green exhibition in ILM is a part of an initiative started by her father 20 years ago. "Now we try to have it at least twice a year. ILM is about keeping Mumbai clean and green. In this way, we can contribute our bit towards combating global warming.

After the exhibition, we will have another green event where we will distribute two lakh saplings across 33 centres in Mumbai. Our exhibition has various types of plants -- including medicinal plants. People from all over including hospital and school folk pick up plants. Some are give free to the needy and some at a price to those who can buy. I Love Mumbai is a non-profit making NGO."

"Aamir Is God" - Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor has a lot to celebrate. Her film 3 Idiots is a runaway hit. And Kareena decided to run away to Delhi to be with her sister Karisma for New Years.

Buzz up!
Sounding more relaxed than she did recently, Kareena took time off from the very special family gathering to speak. "I've been running around frantically promoting my film. And then I was ailing for a week. I decided I had to be well for the festive season. Christmas was a very special occasion for my mom and sister. But we never get to be together for the occasion. This time I was adamant. I made sure I took time off from work so that all of us girls could spend time together. My mom and I were here in Delhi to spend time with my sister and niece."

Laughs Kareena, "Karisma and I don't get to spend that much time together. She has her home and husband in Delhi. My career takes me all over the place. Mom cribs we're never together. This year-end reunion was something we had promised ourselves from long before."

In Delhi, Kareena is over-whelmed by the response to her new film. "Everywhere I go I am swamped by compliments for the role. The length of the role didn't matter. I'm just glad to be part of a historic happening. When Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir asked me to be part of their film I jumped at it. I knew the film would be special because of Raju and Aamir, and I was right. As far as our cinema is concerned, Aamir is God."

Reacting to the opinion that Kareena hardly has anything to do in her new film Kareena says, "Who says I've nothing to do? I'm very part of the main drama .Would the story forward if you remove my character? "

Kareena is specially pleased by the compliments she has received for her pairing with Aamir. "Everyone thinks we look good together. I think Aamir and I make a fantastic pair. I'd love to do another film with him immediately, this time I don't want share him with other pivotal characters."

In fact talks are on with two leading filmmakers including Mani Ratnam who is apparently all set to revive his Aamir-Kareena project Lajjo. AR Rahman and Gulzar have even recorded the songs.

Looking back on the year Kareena feels happy about the response to her performances in Kurbaan and 3 Idiots. "Both films are very precious to me. Kurbaan was intense, 3 Idiots was more fun. In 2010 I did films with all the Khans.... Salman, Aamir, Shahrukh (I had a song with him in Billu) and of course Saif."
